Simandou Iron Ore Project, with China Nerin Providing Technical Services and Supervision, Successfully Commences Operation

On November 11, the launch ceremony for the world-class Simandou iron ore project, for which China Nerin provided on-site technical support, digital delivery, and project supervision, was held at the Port of Morebaya in Guinea. The event was attended by Liu Guozhong, Special Representative of the President Xi Jinping and Vice Premier of the State Council,  Guinean President Doumbouya, and the Presidents of Rwanda and Gabon. Fang Tiansan, Secretary to the Board of Directors and Vice General Manager of China Nerin, was invited to attend the ceremony and witness this historic moment, which is set to reshape the global iron ore supply landscape, together with all parties involved in the project.

The Simandou Iron Ore Project, located in southeastern Guinea, is the world's largest and highest-quality open-pit hematite deposit, representing a world-class, large-scale, high-grade mining project. With total iron ore reserves exceeding 4.4 billion tons and an average iron grade of 65.6–66%, it significantly surpasses the average level of major iron ore deposits globally. The supporting Trans-Guinean Railway (also known as the Masi Railway) and the Port of Morebaya have achieved integrated through-transport, establishing a complete "mine-railway-port" logistics chain. This project has become a landmark strategic initiative under the Belt and Road Initiative. Its commissioning not only injects strong impetus into Guinea's economic development and provides a solid foundation of green raw materials for the steel industry in China and globally, but is also set to profoundly reshape the supply-demand dynamics of the global iron ore market.

As one of China's earliest international engineering and technology enterprises to "go global",  China Nerin played a key role in providing technical services for the project, leveraging its profound expertise, extensive overseas project experiences, and cross-cultural collaboration capabilities. Building on its technological strengths in mining, mineral processing, and digital applications, the company delivered tailored full-process solutions — offering robust support in areas ranging from lean optimization of mining processes and efficiency improvements in mineral processing to safety and quality control, schedule management, and full-lifecycle digital services. This comprehensive approach laid a solid foundation for the project’s high-standard construction and efficient advancement.

The commissioning of the Simandou project represents a vivid practice of China Nerin’s participation in the Belt and Road Initiative. In the future, the company will take this milestone as an opportunity to continue upholding the principle of “win-win cooperation,” fully leveraging its talent, technology, and management expertise to deliver integrated services encompassing “design + project management + proprietary equipment + digital technology”. China Nerin will provide further professional support for subsequent capacity expansion and intelligent upgrading of the project, contributing more of its solutions to promote green, low-carbon, efficient, and safe development in global mining, and elevating international mining cooperation to new heights.
